Great Powers Game

In the Great Powers Game, I was Russia. In the beginning, I did not think I would be able to build my empire, but by the end of it I enjoyed the rise of the Russian empire. The countries that had an advantage from the beginning were Great Britain and USA. They had an advantage because they had more economic points at the beginning of the game. Russia wasn’t too good or bad of an empire in the beginning of the game, but at the end we won. In the long run, it was best to buy industries. This is because colonies ran out and no one in the game really wanted to take over other people’s colonies. Also if you have many industries and somebody attacked you, you would have enough industries to give to them, as well as keep for yourself. Lastly, the number of industries determined if you win or not. In the middle of the game, all of my alliances were doing fairly well, but by the end of it, I was allies with all of the countries. Overall, my allies were harmful. This is because half of my allies attacked me, and the rest did not help me at all. Now looking back, my allies could not be trusted, and the main reason for this is that they attacked me.
One thing I learned from this conflict simulation was that you can not trust everyone, they might just betray you. The second thing I learned was that you should think before you make a choice, because if you make the wrong choice, that leads you to more problems. Lastly, before you declare a war, make sure you have trust worthy, powerful allies on your side. This Great Powers Game simulation really taught me how conflicts really work.

Avi I must say that you didn't WIN the game just because of your industries. I agree that it was very important to buy industry, and it wasn't very necessary to have colonies because they did the same thing. But the best part was obviously to pwn GB in the last war.

Avi,
Great post about the great powers game. I agree that industries were important, but colonies were more useful because they could be used for more than one thing. And when you say all of your allies were harmful, I disagree. Germany was a very loyal ally to you, although I cannot say that for myself. Overall, good post.

You cant trust many people... EXCEPT GERMANY. I dont think that having 1 more economic point in the beggining of the game really affects the outcome because you had a lot more points in the end. It was vital to have a lot of industries, because, as you, if you are attacked you have stuff to give out. I also said in my post that before you declare a war make sure you have trusty allies. I agree with majority of things you said. Good job Avi. Viva Russia!
