The main visual element in this picture is that there is a man/ country that had many arms on other countries. This political picture shows that England tried to take over many countries around the world. The cartoonist’s opinion about this issue is that it is terrible that this one country is trying to take over the world, and you can see that the man/ country is greedy because the man’s face is a fat face so the element of greed is also in the picture. You can tell the cartoonist does not like this because of the man’s face in the picture, as well as the way his arms are displayed. What the cartoonist could have done to make this picture more persuasive is that he/ she could have put that element of evil in the man’s face, plus the cartoonist could have made the background darker. The cartoonist has contrast because as soon as you look at the picture, you look at the fat man with many arms. Also, he/she has repetition with the many arms that are taking over the other countries. This cartoonist has some alignment but could use a little bit more. Lastly, the cartoonist could have put in proximity a lot more because you can’t really tell what parts of the picture fit together.
