The one phrase that I thought was useful during the 1870 stock market game was, “Buy low, sell high.” I only realized this was help full towards the end of the game. I was doing okay in the beginning of the game, then I started losing a lot of my money. I turned to look at the phrases that were put up on the board. Then, I saw, “Buy low, sell high.” There were a couple of companies that were very cheap, so I decided to buy shares in that company. For example, the Great Northern Railroad was selling at $5, but, by the time I got a chance to buy my shares in the company, there were no more shares left to buy. So, I did not buy any shares. After a while, the price of the share went up to $20. Basically, the phrase “Buy low, sell high” was a good way that guided me to get more money.
